"Please, like I'd be invited to a lot of parties anyway," Beverly says with a laugh, rolling her eyes. Darrow may not be as bad as Derry, and dating someone a couple grades ahead of her gives her a tiny bit of social clout that she's never had before, but she never has been and expects never to be popular. She doesn't think she would have the first idea what to do if she were. "At least now, when I don't get invited, it'll be because people think I'm scary and badass."

They'd be thinking it for the wrong reasons, but that seems entirely beside the point.
